do you work for free? I have received an uproar of hate comments on facebook because I occasionally give my service dog treats while she is working. They keep me safe and I will do everything I can to keep them safe 🙏🦮 We ran into a lot of dogs at the airport on our recent trip, which is not uncommon. However it can be scary when passing another dog when you don’t know how they will react to your service dog. Thankfully my two service dogs trust me to handle any interactions with other dogs and I always make sure to do whatever I can to keep them comfortable and safe. If you’re wondering - why two service dogs? 🦮🦮 Oakley is my main but soon retiring service dog. He still loves to work and is perfect at his job, but he’s an older guy and sometimes he needs a day off. Whiskey takes over for him on those days - or if the activity of the day is more active. Oakley and whiskey currently perform different tasks as well. So I can work them at the same time when needed and they each perform their own separate tasks to help me mitigate my disabilities. It’s only possible to travel with a toddler and 2 service dogs if you have exceptionally well trained service dogs - and ones that can confidently handle moments like you saw in this video. And yes they did pass spilled coffee on the floor in the beginning of the video! 🙌 #servicedog #servicedogs #servicedogteam

what should we name it? 🐺🤎🐊 do you let your service dog pick out toys after a long day of working? Kora gets treats/kibbles (randomly) throughout all of our outings as payment, but I sometimes let her pick out a toy when she’s been working hard. Not every IHG hotel has been a negative experience, but @Holiday Inn Express by IHG as a whole needs to do better at training their employees properly, especially in an industry that is highly likely to encounter service dog teams at a higher frequency than other industries!!! Thankfully this one turned out ok and we ended up having a restful stay before continuing driving home to Denver, but we never even told y’all the story of the location on our wedding road trip that charged mom a $250 fee without her knowledge and then when she called them they accused her of sneaking in a pet despite making an online note and confirming they saw the note about me at check in (like she did last night and always does when checkin into a hotel) 😤 Bottom line is know your rights and speak up when they are being violated! And for any hotel employees seeing this: you should feel empowered to screen all animals entering your establishment with the legal questions designed to help identify fakes and those trying to take advantage of the loose SD laws in the USA, and those two questions are: 1. Is that a service animal required because of a disability? 2. What task or tasks has it been individually trained to perform to help mitigate your disability? And one last thing, emotional support to help with “anxiety” is not a task covered under the ADA and at that point you can classify that dog as an ESA, which does not have public access rights at non-pet friendly businesses like task trained service animals do.
