🥻 ➡️🍰Here is the fourth edition of my Runways to Recipes series where I take inspiration from designers and turn them into edible works of art! This time I took inspo from @sabyasachiofficial heritage sari collection! I decided to try and turn a Swedish Princess Cake into Indian Princess Cake by using the sari as inspiration! This cake definitely tested my abilities to the max. My marzipan tore, my cake wasn't as tender as I wanted it to be, the diplomat cream was a bit too runny, overall - a mess! But I did not give up! Come back tomorrow to see how it turned out! #milkandcardamom #sffoodblogger #bayareablogger #indiandessert #princesscake #dessert
Replying to @Nasiha Ahmad 🥻 ➡️🍰 Here is the 4th edition of my Runways to Recipes series where I take inspiration from designers and turn them into edible works of art! This time I took inspo from @sabyasachiofficial heritage sari collection! After a major fail I got back to it and started all over again and...it worked out!! I love how this cake turned out- it's simple, elegant and I feel like it really evokes the chic-ness of the sari! Sign up for my Substack to get the recipe! 👗 ➡️🍨 Here is the third edition of my Runways to Recipes series where I take inspiration from designers and turn them into edible works of art! This time I took inspo from Aisha Rao, who took inspiration from trencadís, or Spanish broken tiles for her dresses! I decided to try and make some ice cream sandwiches because an easy way to translate this design would be through a thin layer of sponge cake! I freehanded a quick stencil and got to work! I made a simple batter and dyed it with food coloring, and I made 13 different colors! I piped out the design in 3 sittings, freezing in between each one. The first was all the white outlines and designs, then the colored batter designs, and finally the background colors. I ended up with extra batter, so I piped it out on the other side in a random abstract pattern. I made a fudgy cake batter and spread that on top before baking! Come back tomorrow to see how it turned out and see how I make the ice cream! #milkandcardamom #sffoodblogger #bayareablogger
