If marble tile feels out of reach, consider ceramic or porcelain alternatives for a luxe look without the hefty price tag! They’re not only stunning but also a more sustainable choice compared to vinyl. While I did choose marble, if it did not work out, I would have chosen a lesser expensive gray and white tile over vinyl ✨ #HomeDesignTips #SustainableLiving #TheSouthernGail #maximalist #smaximalist
Contractors and stores don’t want you to know this, but quality matters—and it shows. Cut corners with: • Vinyl siding that fades and cracks • Vinyl windows that warp and fog • Flat-pack furniture that barely survives a move Or level up with: • Real wood cabinets built to last • Timeless lighting that elevates your space • Detailed molding that adds character and elegance ⚡️ Cheap choices might save you upfront, but they cost you in repairs, replacements, and lost value. Stop settling for “good enough”—because you really get what you pay for. Budgets don’t always allow for buying the highest quality materials available, but when given an option, choose the highest quality available (even if it means you have cut somewhere else). Maybe you don’t get custom drapes made but you get REAL hardwood floors. Maybe you don’t get wallpaper and you just paint because you got REAL wood furniture. Maybe you don’t fully landscape the yard right now and instead of particle board and MDF cabinets you get REAL wood cabinets. You can shop second hand and save money in other ways. Example: if I had to choose between particle board cabinet boxes already assembled and painted or RTA wood boxes, I’d choose the wood hands down and assemble myself. If I had to choose between vinyl siding AND sod, or cement siding (like Hardie) and seed, I’m choosing cement all day. I’d rather suffer in the short term than wind up replacing things in 10-15 years. Sometimes contractors and stores can trick you into thinking this is the way to go and then in 15 years you are getting new windows, again. Whatever decisions you make have to be good for your family! Just sharing what I have learned and wish I knew years ago. #QualityOverQuantity #HomeInvestments #DesignMatters #ElevateYourSpace #smaximalist
