Did you know you can throw a New Year’s Eve party without alcohol? That you can laugh more in one night than you have all year? That you can remember every moment? You can savor and appreciate the party food you barely would have tasted with booze? That you can pray together over the food at 8pm and pray in the new year together in the presence of the Holy Spirit at 12:01am? It’s been years since I actually attended an NYE party, let alone stayed awake until the ball dropped, but I was just feeling festive last night. Driving 20 minutes home that late scared me a bit, as I thought of drunk drivers and briefly spun myself into a tale of potential tragedy. Reminds you how little you cared for your own life in drinking days, unworried about tragedy and more concerned with “fun.” A sober mind is sharp, attune to the subtle details that make life beautiful in the little moments and slight shifts that can could save that same life in a split second if necessary. So I started 2025 truly clean. It was the first time I prayed at midnight and stopped to appreciate another year. So much can happen from one midnight to the next. What does this year hold for us? Only God knows and we walk forward in the sobering knowledge of His providence and provision. Thankful for 1553 days alcohol-free and the good hard that comes with a good, good life. >>> SobrietyCurious.com #sober #sobertok#soberlife #sobermom #soberchristian
