van life diaries 🐁👇🏻 !!!! I CAUGHT THE MOUSE !!!! van life has given me some… interesting days. Like this is how my Friday morning looked LOL. But hey it got me out on a 4 mile walk. But like a few days into the new year and already being humbled… it’s going to be an interesting year. The whole time I was in Baja last year I didn’t have a single issue with mice so now my safe haven is gone and the mouse paranoia is back 😭 I use the Gerossi live traps with peanut butter and they are really easy to use. 👉🏻👉🏻 REAL TALK: mouse tips 👈🏻👈🏻 yes yes yes peppermint and cinnamon can HELP deter mice, but if they want in, it’s definitely not stopping them. I always have the bags of cinnamon and peppermint oil around and it has never phased them. Also be aware that peppermint can be toxic to your pets My steering column isn’t sealed (I find that older vehicles are this way) my friends with newer vans seem to deal with way less mice. Yes I could *try* to shove steel wool, dryer sheets, etc, but there are SO many crevices that a mouse could easily enter though. I don’t want to say it’s a lost cause, but….it might be KEEP YOUR FOOD SEALED. I keep all my food in an airtight container or my fridge. This usually shortens the duration of any mouse visitors because there’s nothing for them to find So this leaves one solution… 🐈 Should I get a cat? Hahah. Okay but on that - I have several friends that live in vans with cats and it has made the situation with mice actually more disturbing because they still come in.
