The Cleveland #metroarea hands its drivers more tickets per capita by FAR and away than any other #urban area in the #USA. There are many factors going into this, in my opinion the largest one being WAY too many #municipalities, especially in #CuyahogaCounty, which has SIXTY of them. Since #GreaterCleveland has been losing #population since the 1950s, but all these suburbs existed before, they are now largely redundant, and many struggle to maintain even a fraction of the tax base they started with. In order to make revenue for towns with dying tax bases, speeding tickets are a great way to do this, but with just how many #cities exist with their own #police forces, you are practically passing a cop every mile you drive. Don’t speed, sure, but in Cleveland even if you’re following the rules, thanks to racial profiling you can still get pulled over for made-up infractions, like no seatbelt, or texting while driving (when you weren’t texting).
