I feel like I needed to talk about this because it's been very difficult for a long time, and I've been avoiding talking about it forever. That's why I don't take him out a lot. That's why all my douglas fur is so soft and not matted because I don't do a whole lot with them in order to preserve that softness. I have 2 douglas that I don't care about if they get dirty, but their texture isn't all that great, so it's not very comforting in public, unfortunately. Well-loved essa's have that matted fur. I do love mine, but having his texture ruined would probably trigger my anxiety and make me not use them anymore. I know that the softness cannot stay but it's really the only thing about my essa that actually keeps me grounded and not having a meltdown.
