Pets age just like we do. They still have amazing qualities. If you start to notice them acting out, having accidents, becoming aggressive as they get into the senior years…. Remember, these are all things that can sometimes be explained and treated. Pets can get sundowners, dementia, vision and hearing loss, arthritis. With loss of vision more things can startle them and scare them leading to what would appear as “aggression out of nowhere” Arthritis can cause pain and inflammation so as the kids are rough housing and the pet is giving every sign that they are not pleased but the kids miss it and then the pet “bite and scratched for no reason”, there was a reason. There are many amazing medications to help your pets during these times to make them feel better. We would take them, so why not offer them to your pet? Many people say they don’t want to put that crap into their pet… so let them suffer? Some claim they are afraid it will kill their pet. Your pet is in its final years…. If your pet is one of those rare pets that would have organs deteriorating more rapidly due to the meds, I would rather my pet go out of this life sooner and in less pain than later while suffering.
