Almost a year ago, we said our goodbyes to my husband of 18 years. He was just 38 years old and left behind our 3 children. Jerell had just injured himself a few weeks before this. He fell down the stairs and we were told he had an ACL tear and that after some physical therapy, he’d be just fine. He was bedridden from the pain in his knee which everyone told me was too extreme to sound like an ACL tear but we trusted the doctors. This man loved so hard. Even from the bed, he made sure I had a beautiful birthday. He flew out my best friend from Detroit as a complete surprise to me and planned a whole week full of fun. All from the bed. And we all had a blast partying in that bed. He knew how to make any situation fun. God I miss him so much. Here I was saying my final goodbye before the funeral home took him away. Now, almost a year later, we are about to officially begin our fight to get justice for the flagrant misdiagnosis of my husband’s cancer which ultimately led to his untimely death at the young age of 38, leaving behind 3 young children and me, his wife.
