Every time I do the bottom wash on a painting I hold my breathš Even though I know the pencil isnāt going anywhere Iām always afraid the sketch will wash away. (Also gave a clue to my next big painting at the endā¦super excitedš¤©) Hereās a couple tips Iāve learned: ~You donāt have to do a wash! However if you have a really detailed painting Iāve found that I like having that extra layer there, like a security blanketš«£ ~Donāt worry about the sketch blurring a little bit, itās still gonna be there! ~However make sure you thin out your paint enough! (Acrylic, water..oil, solventā¦you get the idea) ~donāt make your wash too dark! The paint you use should be a little lighter in color. Mine was almost too dark here so I thinned it out more. Sometimes people will even use neon colors as a wash and let the bottom peek outš ~Everyone has different ways of doing things and none of them are solely correct, do what works for you! Comment below if you have any tips that are super important for that first wash:) ~ ~ ~
