Learning to read and follow directions is a vital skill for first graders to master! By understanding and following instructions, students build confidence, independence, and self-management skills. This essential skill also lays the foundation for future academic success, helping students to complete tasks accurately, efficiently, and effectively. #firstgrade #teachingtips #teachercoach #instructionalcoach #classroomoftheelite #elementaryteacher #primaryteacher #teacher #blackeducator #iteachfirst #teachertiptuesday #teachertips #teachertiptok #teachertip
Directions: *What’s My Word? A Fun Vocabulary-Building Game!* *Objective:* To practice reading, writing, and sharing vocabulary words in a fun and interactive way. *Materials:* - Index cards - Headbands or clips - Journals or paper *How to Play:* 1. Each student writes a word they know how to say and spell on an index card. 2. Students wear their headbands or clips with the word visible for their peers to see. 3. Students rotate around the classroom, visiting each other’s desks. 4. At each desk, the student reads the word on their peer’s headband and writes it down in their journal. 5. If a student encounters a word that has already been written in their journal, they don’t need to write it down again. 6. The game continues until all students have visited each other’s desks and collected a variety of new vocabulary words. *Variations and Extensions:* - To add an extra challenge, set a timer for each rotation or limit the number of words students can collect. - Encourage students to use context clues or ask their peers for definitions if they’re unsure about a word. - Create a classroom “Word Wall” where students can post and display their collected vocabulary words. #teachersofinstagram #classroomoftheelite #elementaryteacher #teacher #primaryteacher #firstgradeteacher #teacherssupportteachers #igteachers #teachersfollowteachers #teachercoach #instructionalcoach #tiktok #tiktokteacher #thursdaymotivation #secondgradeteacher #thirdgradeteacher #lowerelementary #teacher #blackeducators #teachertiptok #tiktokteacher
