One of the best ways I teach grammar? Putting actual grammar mistakes on the board and breaking them down with my students. It’s fun, engaging, and—most importantly—effective. Mistakes with commas, apostrophes, and spelling get the spotlight as we talk through why they’re wrong and how to fix them. The goal? To help students catch their own errors and never make them again! Of course, someone always adds a little humor to the mix, and this lesson was no different. Proofing grammar has never been so much fun! #agrammar #GrammarLesson #ProofReading #MiddleSchoolTeacher #writing #LearnFromMistakes #GrammarHumor #highschool #TeachersOfTikTok #ClassroomFun #GrammarErrors #EnglishTeacher #TeachingTips #EngagingLessons #CommaRules #commause #ApostropheMistakes #comma #SpellingErrors #spelling
In this engaging grammar lesson, I taught my students how to correctly pluralize last names—a fun and practical holiday activity! I wrote a variety of last names on the board, including common and less common ones like Smith, James, Crosby, Alvarez, and O’Malley. Students took turns saying the plural forms aloud, reinforcing their understanding through visual and verbal association. We discussed tricky rules like when to add -s, -es, or leave the name unchanged. By the end of the lesson, students felt confident about writing holiday greetings like “Merry Christmas from the Johnsons!” without any apostrophe errors. #WritingSkills #GrammarLesson #PluralLastNames #HolidayGrammar #Christmas #ChristmasGreetings #MiddleSchoolTeacher #TeachingTips #GrammarTips #FunInTheClassroom #lastnames #EnglishTeacher #TeachersOfTikTok #HolidaySeason #LanguageArts #TeacherLife #ClassroomFun #LearningMadeFun #pluralnames #plurallastnames #grammarlesson

Replying to @J Mechelle Why memorizing sight words doesn't work: I've mapped the Dolch Sight Word lists by sound, and out of 220 words, only 36 have irregular parts. Most words follow regular spelling patterns! 🔠 Kindergarteners need to focus on phonemic awareness and letter recognition to build a strong alphabetic foundation. With this, they can decode high-frequency words and tackle irregular spellings in first grade, without relying on visual memorization, which is not helpful for the reading brain. 🧠 #phonics #readingskills #sightwords #literacy #earlylearning #phonemicawareness #alphabeticprinciple #kindergartenreading #firstgradeteacher #scienceofreading #teachingtips #readingdevelopment

In this short and practical grammar lesson, I tackled the common confusion between me, myself, and I. Using sentences about myself, I explained how to determine the correct usage by breaking each sentence apart and listening for what sounds right. I highlighted how me often follows a verb as an object, while I is used as the subject of the sentence. I also explained the function of reflexive pronouns like myself and how they refer back to the subject (I). This quick lesson helps clarify a tricky grammar rule and ensures you can confidently use me, myself, and I correctly in both speaking and writing! #GrammarLesson #MeMyselfAndI #EnglishTips #GrammarMadeEasy #LanguageArts #ReflexivePronouns #MiddleSchoolTeacher #ESL #EnglishTeacher #TeachingTips #GrammarRules #LearnGrammar #WritingSkills #TeachersOfTikTok #FunWithGrammar #ESLTeaching

✨ Want to teach your students how to write suspenseful scenes? Try the power of short sentences! ✍🏽 Here’s why it works: ✏️Short sentences create pauses, making readers stop and feel the tension. ✏️They mimic the way we think when we’re scared or nervous. ✏️The quick rhythm builds anticipation, pulling readers to the edge of their seats. #middleschoolteacher #elementaryschool #elateacher #writingideas #englishteacher #teachingwriting #teachersontiktok #middleschoolela #teachingontiktok #teachingtips #teacherlife #literacycoach #middleschool #creativewritingteacher #homeschooling #homeschoolersoftiktok #writingtips #teachingkids #teachertok #texasteachers
