Guess who finally played Reavers of Midgard The Card Game!! This game was a lot of fun, players are secretly choosing locations to send their ship to and if they end up at a location with another player, they’ll be negotiating how to split the loot. Players are working to collect loot and reavers that will give them points at the end of the game while also managing the amount of terror tokens they collect, because those can really start to cost you some big points at the end of the game. The gameplay of this game feels so much different than the original Reavers game. The original game is a tight worker placement with a pretty big board where you’re fighting monsters with dice, amongst other things. This version has virtually none of that, you’re just raiding, doing the occasional negotiation, collecting your loot and trying to get a reavers card here and there. It also takes up a lot less space on the table and plays a bit quicker (this two player game took 45 minutes with 3-5 minutes on either end for setup and clean up). I’ll probably be obsessing over this one for a little while. Ps. This is the Kickstarter version, so some of the bits are upgraded. I believe they will be selling a deluxe edition with the upgraded bits once it hits retail though.
