While both are low iso color negative film ftom Kodak, they look very different with Ektar having much more saturation, higher contrast, and lower exposure latitude compared to Portra’s lower saturation and contrast, and very high exposure latitude. Ektar’s very fine grain and saturation make it ideal for landscapes but due to it’s saturated reds it’s not always the best choice for portraiture. Portra on the other hand, with its warmth and lower contrast, is ideal for portraits.
