I witnessed some extraordinary things yesterday in the Middlesex Fells Reservation, which I am fortunate to live very near. This is over 2,600 acres of protected land and it is actually a state park. The wind combined with freezing temperatures created a wind chime effect with the ice.❄️ The blue sky was somehow reflected in the swirling shards. The other-worldly sound of the ice heaving under the pressure of the water. Because of the strong winds, a tree fell and I happened to catch the sound (at the end of the fourth clip). The wind blowing through the trees created its own magic and reflections and debris caught in the freezing process always provide interesting texture and shapes. I visit frequently—daily when I have the time—and it always has something new to offer, even the same trails over and over because they’re never quite the same. This is like a garden on a macro scale. Finally, since I’ve been thinking about orange and blue lately, there was plenty of that to see as well.🧡💙 The magic of the natural world.
