This study found that your newborn’s brain grows by approximately 1% per day, with an overall growth of 64% in 90 days, which explains why they need so much sleep!  Sleep is when all that growing and development happens, so although 16-18 hours seems like a LOT, when you think about how much their little brains are actually growing in those 3 months, it makes sense.  Did you know I have a FREE newborn sleep guide that teaches you 7 simple tips to help your newborn get the sleep they need?  ✨ Link in bio to download it! 🫶 #sciencesaturday #newbornsleep #infantsleep #babysleepconsultant #sleeplearning #sleeptraining #thepeacefulsleeper

💡 Did you know? You can teach your baby independent sleep skills AND enjoy contact naps at the same time! Here’s the scoop on contact naps: ✨ Newborn snuggles are pure magic! You can’t spoil a newborn, so soak up all the cuddles while helping them get solid naps to prevent overtiredness. It’s the perfect way to lay the groundwork for future independent sleep. ✨ Independent sleep doesn’t mean no contact naps! If your baby has learned to sleep on their own, the occasional contact nap won’t undo their skills. Just keep in mind, if contact naps become the norm, a habit will likely form and it will be harder to get your baby to sleep independently. ✨ It’s about what works for your family. ❤️ 💛 Access FREE sleep materials at thepeacefulsleeper.com/tiktok/ #contactnap #contactnaps #newmomlife #babysleepcoach #babysleepconsultant #sleeptraining #sleeplearning #thepeacefulsleeper
Rolling milestones ahead! 🚀 Here’s what to watch for: ✨ Lifting head and shoulders during tummy time for longer stretches ✨ Kicking legs up and to the side ✨ Arching their back ✨ Craning their neck to look over their shoulder Every baby is unique—rolling from tummy to back might come first, or they might surprise you! 💕 ✨ Access FREE sleep materials at thepeacefulsleeper.com/tiktok/ #tummytime #rollingover #developmentalmilestones #sleeptraining #sleeplearning #babysleepconsultant #thepeacefulsleeper
6 weeks postpartum, and the doctor says, 'You're good to go!' But... are you?? Figuring out intimacy after having a baby is no small feat. Your body’s been through a lot, you’re probably exhausted, maybe touched out, and dealing with sore boobs—or even navigating postpartum anxiety or depression. For some, intimacy can be a sweet way to reconnect, feel like yourself again, and soak up some feel-good hormones. For others, it’s the last thing you want right now. Both are totally valid! Take it at your own pace. Communicate with your partner and figure out what feels right for both of you in this season of adjustment. 💕 What about you? At 6 weeks, were you feeling ready to 🙋‍♀️ or more like 🙅‍♀️? #postpartum #postpartumjourney #ppd #ppa #mommentalhealth #newmom #lmft #thepeacefulsleeper
That last nap of the day can be tough! 😵‍💫 Sometimes it’s overtiredness stacking up, or maybe they’ve had such great naps earlier that they’re just not tired yet. Or the timing feels awkward—too early for bed but too late for another full nap. Here’s the good news: it’s totally okay to offer more support for that tricky last nap to help it go smoothly. 💕 You’re not going to ruin any progress, promise! ✨ Access FREE sleep materials at thepeacefulsleeper.com/tiktok/ #babynaps #naptime #napschedule #babysleeptips #babysleepconsultant #sleeptraining #sleeplearning #thepeacefulsleeper
Surviving the newborn trenches? Let’s get you some longer nighttime stretches! 💤 Here are 3 tips to help: ✨ Focus on getting full feedings during the day. If your baby’s snacking all day, they might want to snack all night too. ✨ Orient day and night. Keep daytime bright and lively, but at night, aim for dark, quiet, and soothing vibes to help your baby know it’s bedtime. ✨ Fill that sensory tank! Don’t stress about “spoiling” a newborn—give them lots of playtime, snuggles, rocking, bouncing, swinging, tummy time, and a good, snug swaddle. Fostering independence and resilience is a parenting paradigm—start young and see what your kids are capable of. 💪 They’ll find joy in testing their own limits and trying new things in a safe container! We try to make it a game to build these skills. For example—my girls went into their orthodontist appointment 30 seconds ahead of me to practice checking in by themselves. They were a little nervous (totally normal!), but it’s such great practice for building confidence in a safe and supportive way. 🙌 It’s these small moments that help kids discover their strengths while knowing you’re right there to catch them if they need it. 🥰 How do you encourage independence in your kids? Getting good, independent sleep and fostering a healthy, secure attachment are not at odds— they actually go hand in hand. Healthy attachment is cultivated through thousands of interactions with your children, and how you show up at those interactions is often dependent on your own well-being. ⬇️ When we’re well-rested, we can bring more joy, excitement, and love to each interaction. You can only be your best self for them when your cup is full! 🙌 When it comes to attachment and sleep learning, the key is tuning in and collaborating WITH your baby to determine the best approach. That’s what sets The Peaceful Sleeper apart…there’s no one-size-fits-all! In the 4-24 Months Course, you’ll learn 4 different approaches (from gradual to accelerated, and two paths in the middle) to help teach your baby independent sleep skills. The goal is to empower you with information and support so you can ALL get great sleep. ✨ Access FREE sleep materials at thepeacefulsleeper.com/tiktok/ #attachment #secureattachment #parenting #babysleepconsultant #sleeplearning #sleeptraining #thepeacefulsleeper
1️⃣ Stay consistent. If your toddler is protesting their nap, think of it more as a “quiet time”. Stay consistent and offer the nap at the same time, in the same place. Have a simple naptime routine and even if they just quietly play, it is important for their little bodies to rest and reset. 2️⃣ Set boundaries. We all know you cannot MAKE a baby sleep, so instead, think of it as a division of responsibilities. You set the boundaries around time, length (one hour is usually best), and the sleep environment. Your toddler chooses whether or not they sleep. You can also give them other choices to make such as what pajamas to wear, what stuffies to bring to bed, etc. to help them feel empowered and in control. 3️⃣ Motivate! Naps are not worth the power struggle that can sometimes ensue, so instead, try and think of ways you can motivate your toddler to be more receptive to naps. Some examples are trading in playtime now for a trip to the park after the nap, using an “ok to wake” clock, or even a sticker chart. The biggest thing to remember is that sleep is not linear! Just like any type of progress, there will be ups and downs. Stay the course and remain calm- you got this! ⭐️ Access FREE sleep materials at thepeacefulsleeper.com/tiktok/ #toddlersleep #toddlernaps #babysleepconsultant #sleeptraining #sleeplearning #thepeacefulsleeper
