Follow @travelinthoms for budget camping tips! 🚐 🤯 We’ve been traveling full time in our RV since March 2022 and THIS is the best way to afford camping in the Florida Keys for 2-3 weeks at a time…Thousand Trails. 📌 About Thousand Trails: Before we became full time, we stayed at Sunshine Key in April 2021 and paid nearly $3k in retail to stay here in non-peak season. Since getting our Thousand Trails Membership, we’ve been able to camp in the keys for that same price for over 4 months during peak and non-peak season. Monthly sites now retail here for nearly $4,500 a month…which is INSANE! 💰 There are two keys campground locations - Sunshine Key and Fiesta Key 🏝️ 📌 Affordable Membership Options: We recommend to anyone at a minimum to get the Camping Pass which is around $1k and is good for 1 year. With this pass, you can camp in the Keys for 2 weeks at a time throughout the year. It’s cheaper to get the camping pass and pay the $20/night fee versus paying the retail price of $2k/week. Plus they have locations all over the US you can camp at using the camping pass. 🎉 With a full membership, you can camp here for up to 3 weeks at a time throughout the year; this is what we have. NYE in an RV? Yeah, it’s pretty epic :) Let me tell you how cool this community is. First, several of us had the same idea for a family friendly NYE so we teamed up. Then some people we barely knew agreed to host this “small party” at their rig (little did they know…😂). Then a ton of other people (mentioned below) jumped in to bring, snacks, games, supplies and man power, and fulltime families sponsored it so we could purchase things we needed to make this an epic memory! All of this in a matter of 24 hours 😅 That’s the beauty of community and especially the RV community! If you haven’t made it a point to get connected to the RV community, then let me give you your first resolution for 2025; Get outside, join Fulltime Families, go to the fire, ask people over for dinner, do whatever you’ve got to do to get connected and build your community, its worth all the effort for you AND your kids!
