⚠️Are you blasting your baby’s sound machine at full volume right by their head? For hearing safety, consider this instead: Layer the sound machines! 1️⃣ Place the sound machine at the farthest point from their crib or bassinet. This keeps the sound at a safe level while still drowning out background noise. 2️⃣ Use a free decibel meter app to test that the sound is at a max of 55dBa when measuring from inside the crib, while the sound machine remains far away. 3️⃣Add a second sound machine outside their door to block household noises like footsteps, conversation, or pets. This layered approach keeps your baby’s sleep environment quiet and undisturbed without turning up the volume too high. 👉Why does this matter? The safest volume for babies is between 50-55 dBa, especially for long-term exposure like overnight sound machines. Anything above that can potentially harm their delicate hearing (and even ours!). I’m a BIG fan of brown noise machines (I use one every night for myself and all my kids!) and I do recommend using a sound machine for the whole night - BUT only if it’s being done safely! I also recommend turning it off during awake time. Sometimes parents forget to turn it off and have white noise running all day long. It’s important to give those ears a break! How many of you were blasting it next to your baby’s head? Did you find this helpful? If so, make sure to share it with another parent who might want to see it! 👋 And follow @sleepfullbaby for more simple baby & toddler sleep tips — Baby sleep tips, toddler sleep tips, baby development, toddler development, parenting tips,
