Publishing Truth Time: I took this picture 2 years ago when I completed my middle grade fantasy. It was the longest manuscript I had ever written, and I remember it being very difficult to finish because I had another book on submissions that had not been bought yet. I wasn't yet aware that that feeling would be the norm - trying to keep writing while your previous book doesn't sell. This book has gone through so many edits, including a major edit where I cut out 11k words to try to fit with the new/current lower middle grade word count. It did make it to an acquisitions meeting last year, which is amazing, but it got a pass in the end. But, I still have hope for my fantasy.
