There have been over 200 executive orders signed, many of which target trans and non-binary people directly. I’ll be talking about next steps in the days to come. Right now I want your help. As the year draws to a close, it’s time for trans and non-binary folks to prepare for next year. Step one on your to-do list is to get your legal name change if you haven’t already done so. There are generally easy processes in place for you to do so. Check your local court websites for information on how-to do it, the costs involved, and the forms you’ll need. You may also have local bar groups putting on name change clinics throughout the year if you’d prefer to have someone prepare the paperwork for you. If you’re short on funds, there is usually an option to seek filing in forma pauperis - it’s essentially a system wherein you request relief from the court in not having to pay filing fees. You’ll likely still have to pay for your certified copies of your court order. I’ll be doing an online workshop on name and documentation changes in January. It’ll be on my Patreon. While I hate what’s happened with Meta, I have 60k followers on IG, 40k on TikTok, plus 10k on Threads. Only 400+/- on BlueSky. For now, I’m staying put because: - It’ll take me a minute to move all my videos over to YouTube &/or Patreon &/or my website (that I still need to build); - “Trans Dad” is a brand that I’ve built across platforms that is important to me &, I hope, to my followers. Even if were to slow my engagement with a platform, I won’t delete my profile because I don’t want anyone spoofing me or taking my brand; - I don’t want folks without the capacity/interest in moving platforms (again) to feel abandoned by me; - I refuse to bend the knee to fascists.
