Five years ago today, I posted the first photo here with my coming-out announcement to the world. This same photo had been used a little more than a month earlier to come out to my closest friends and family. The photo was taken on December 3, 2019, at the Town Center Christmas tree in Disney Springs. I had just had my makeup done at Sephora and was on my way to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party that evening. I can still remember feeling nervous as I went into Sephora to get the makeup service done. When I was finished and looked in the mirror, it was like seeing myself for the first time. I wasn't nervous; I felt calm and comfortable. I knew everything I wanted to do moving forward. Since that fateful evening, I have returned to that tree during my holiday Disney vacations to take a new photo, including this year, from which the rest of the photos in this post came. I knew then that the path I would travel would be difficult, and golly gee, it has been. Even with the difficulties I faced, I'd do it all over again. I love the life I've built, the friendships I've developed, the confidence I've grown into, and the community I'm part of.
