In November of 2023 I checked an item off my bucket list: finally visiting Ireland. I can't even describe how much I adore traveling by myself. Going with friends is fun too, but I was 15 the first time I travelled alone internationally. Haven't questioned it since. I also do my best to go alone on simple "artist dates" at least a few times a month. #iykyk I should have stayed in Ireland longer. I should have rented a car, spent a few days in each county with a major landmark, etc., etc. Instead, I rode public transportation between the two cities most hated by locals, slept a lot, marveled at tourist traps, let strangers smirk or roll their eyes at my accent. The entire trip my activities were 1) finding coffee and/or wandering around, 2) barhopping, 3) sitting front row at a @Blindboyboatclub show, 4) accidentally walking into a live death metal show by a tiny local band + staying + buying merch. I took notes for "next Ireland trip" the whole time. Next time I hope to bring my dog. Travelling to/within Ireland alone forced me to realize a few things: 1) if I finally addressed what I knew was #ADHD, I probably would have been able to do more + yap at strangers less, 2) the time difference is no joke + it's probably better to prepare ahead of time, 3) there's an infamous "american girl" reputation clouding everyone's perception at all times, so just embrace it. Respond to weird assumptions by clapping back w "paddystinian" or something (idk the native Irish love language is relentless roasting i guess) 🇵🇸🇮🇪💚 #travelplans #travel #solotravel #womensolotravel #travelalone #adhdinwomen #latediagnosisadhd #neurospicy #neurodivergent #cozy #travelireland #travelcalifornia #travelwithdog #aerlingus #2025trips #2025travel
