I have finished the fill stitching!! She clocked in at 16 hours of fill stitching, 26 hours total quilting, and 1000 yards of thread! I’ve had a couple people ask about the hand and the weight, and she is SUPER sturdy (feels like heavy canvas) but extremely lightweight. Great combo! Next up is finishing the side seams, adding hooks and eyes down the front, and then working on the sleeves so I can do all the eyelets around the armscye. ✨Galadriel Silver Gambeson Part 3✨ We’re at the fun part now! This video covers the basic construction AND the beginning of the trapunto quilting process to get that beautiful raised tree motif on both sides. 🌳 Quilting the tree outline was the hardest, but cutting the batting away took the longest. It’s very finicky work to cut the batting close enough to the stitching lines without cutting the stitches themselves (and I did do that in a few places). It was also tricky to cut JUST the batting and not the fusible fleece layer, which I wanted to keep for the second part of the quilting (coming later!)
