📍Truckee, California might just be one of my favorite places to visit in the entire state & it makes the perfect day trip when you’re visiting Lake Tahoe. Here’s how I’d spend a semi relaxed day there: 👇 🥾Morning hike in Donner State Park - there’s tons to chose from and I recommend looking at options on @alltrails the park has trails of all lengths and difficulties so it’s really the perfect spot for any hiking style ✨Alternative hiking option would be to take the paved trails around Martis Creek Recreation Area, it’s beautiful here and the perfect spot to go birding! 💦If you’re visiting in the summer, Donner Lake in Donner State Park makes the perfect spot to spend the day swimming or paddling. 🛍️if you’re into shopping, restaurants or just walking around a cute Main Street area downtown Truckee makes the perfect stop 🍻 @Donner Creek Brewing is a delicious brewery in town that’s perfect for after spending the day at the lake ⛺️if you like camping, there’s tons of sites to stay along the Truckee River and many of them can be booked in advance via recreation.gov 🌲If you’re interested in some morbid history, you can also visit the sites where the Donner party tragedy happened. The Donner Party Picnic site & Donner State Park are home to the 2 areas where the party settled and ran into all their troubles (the museum in the park has a lot more information and artifacts too which is worth checking out!)
