To make a true bridle horse, they must be properly hobble trained, which is their time to "clock out", and know they don't have to do anything. Combine that with a high line and hang your bridle on your horse for your desired length of time, without a curb strap. This way the horse can learn to pack the bit and hold it properly without your hands interfering. This old method is followed my vaqueros and cowboys alike if they are trying to make a true bridle horse. Only needed until the horse accepts the bit and holds it properly!
