Replying to @Sincerely, HeLanea As a reminder I am a newbie to dog showing! But this is what has worked for Nessie: -focusing on being handled and rewarding for being moved around -starting to focus on rewarding to staying still and rewarding for stillness for 1 second of stillness, 3 seconds, 5 seconds etc -once she could stand still is when I focused on the proper stack placement and I rewarded for holding that position with longer durations as she got older -using bait for judge exams before eventually weaning that out and just holding her chin area for exams without food -gaiting and free stacking after the down and back was rewarded with food at first but I realized Nessie does better with verbal praise so that she doesn’t choke on the food since you gait after the free stack (ask me how I figured that out) -and of course HAVE FUN! It’s all still a work in progress but consistency and patience is what has been the most helpful for us! That is when I was able to see the improvement week by week. Other people that are more experienced may have *much* better tips than me so feel free to comment with better information #dogconformation #conformationdog #dogshows #poodleshow #ukcdogshow #akcdogshow
