More info ⬇️ For those of you who haven’t been, winter is hands down the BEST time to go to avoid the tourist season crowds. send to someone who needs to go here! 📍Ruby Falls on Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee This is the tallest & deepest *commercial* underground cave waterfall in the U.S. that’s open to the public! Almost every tourist we get visits here during their trip 😮 Growing up in Chattanooga, I visited a few times as a kid but my husband had never been until last January! We only had 1 other person on our tour when we went. Ruby Falls gets a lotttt of mixed opinions, but he enjoyed it! … the great debate people have is if the waterfall is naturally occurring. It does close for flooding sometimes due to heavy rain. However, their website says they do recycle the water in the cave during drier times to keep the waterfall flowing. Take that as you want 👀 ⌛️THE HISTORY: Ruby Falls was accidentally discovered by Leo Lambert in 1928. Leo named the waterfall and cave after his wife, Ruby, and opened the iconic Chattanooga attraction to the public in 1929 ❤️ Now it’s one of the top attractions in the area! 🚗 ADDRESS: 1720 South Scenic Hwy Chattanooga, TN 37409 🕑 HOURS: Open everyday, takes 1-1.25 hours to tour 📌 check this out on your next trip to Chattanooga & stay in a unique treehouse at Treetop Hideaways - located right above Ruby Falls. #rubyfalls #undergroundwaterfall #cavetour #lookoutmountain #chattanooga

Then you walk with your group roughly a quarter mile until you reach the falls which are located about 1,120ft below the mountain’s surface 🏔️ The Underground Waterfall is absolutely breathtaking but so is the super cool cave system that you walk through to reach the falls. You pass through all kinds of cave formations that will have you in awe the whole time 🤯 The best time to visit is… Year round!!! Since it’s a cave system deep underground the temperature actually remains a comfortable 60° year round and you don’t have to worry about outside weather conditions. Heavy rain and snow are actually a good thing because they will increase the flow of the falls.
