I was having some issues with several feeds I was using (and no, it had nothing to do with Tractor Supply and the old Chickengate theories), but I made the switch to this feed… my girls and I are loving it! I’m getting eggs through the winter too because their nutrient needs are being met better. It’s harder to find locally and continues to be sold out on Amazon, but I’ll add links to it when I can. You can find it online at the big pet stores atm. There is also an organic option to try! #chickens #chicken #backyardchickens #chickenfeed #urbanfarm #urbanfarming #poultry #poultryfeed #eggs
The length of the stems on some of these already is astounding. Cannot wait for real spring. #flowers #gardening101 #urbanfarm #flores #weddingflowers

What a stressful year it has been so far. Wildfires ravaging through my county, Dior bags, broke my pelvis on a motorcycle, the month long sinus infection only exacerbated by these winds and now the possibility of my garden community disappearing. Find me on all the others so I can find you. We are expanding our content creation, our farms, and our business. Hope to continue to see and chat with you all. #flowers #florals #gardentok #gardenproject #backyardfarm #urbanfarm #weddingflowers #gardening #flowerfarm #fyp #growyourown
Every year I bring my citrus trees in for the winter and they throw a fit… they dry out, drop leaves, and clearly struggle. I thought I would make some self-watering (wicking) pots so they could access to several gallons of water, without sitting in soggy roots. Here’s how I’m making large, inexpensive self-watering pots for around $20 to upgrade my summer-loving citrus trees. And bonus, this method would make a great planter for tomatoes, peppers, mixed mini gardens, and other tree types as well. I filmed this a few months ago but I wanted to make sure it would work before sharing. I’ve made five of these pots so far and my trees are thriving! I’ll post an update to show you soon, because I also have one more item I’ve added to make these pots even better. #selfwatering #garden #gardening #citrustree #selfwateringpot #plants #trees #tutorial #DIY #diyprojects #urbanfarm #urbanfarming #grow #growfood

Believe it or not, my chickens’ eggs stay pretty clean (most of the time). Here’s what I think makes a big difference… This is not an affiliate endorsement for this product. I found these nesting pads a year ago because I had eggs continually breaking. Ever since I began using these, I’ve had no more broken eggs and cleaner eggs in the nests. #chickens #chicken #eggs #backyardchickens #poultry #urbanfarm #urbanfarming #nestingpads
In the winter months as food becomes more scarce, the deer love to chew on tender shoots and rub up against trees, esp young tender trees like my young mini orchard. The first year these were planted, they nearly took out my Bartlet Pear (it is slowly recovering). Last year they really destroyed the two Methley Plum trees on the end. And then, of course, they ruined my entire peach harvest last year, though thankfully left the tree parts alone. 🤦🏻‍♀️ It was time for fencing. I had the U-posts from other projects and a roll of steel fencing I could utilize. And I know these aren’t very tall, but I’m hoping it’s just enough to keep them too annoyed to bother. Here’s how I’m creating these barriers to see if it the obstacle is enough to ward off hungry deer. Closing Out The Year—Here’s One Thing I Always Do for Garden Planning in the New Year I don’t often share things I do to plan my garden spaces, but last year I found this method to be pretty effective… so I thought I would show you a simple and effective way I’ve found to reflect and pivot into the new year. Here’s how I create a garden end-of-year debrief and future plans… DEBRIEF - What worked this past year? - What didn’t work? - What do I get to add next year? - What I learned this year / success stories PLANNING - Set some goals for the next season - Write out or paste in planting calendars - Create a seed / plant wishlist - Make space for planting logs with dates - Make weekly / monthly / seasonal task lists - Draw up a simple garden plan - Research problem areas - Individual plant/variety logs to track Happy planning! #garden #gardening #newyear #backyardgarden #backyardgardening #gardening101 #beginnergardening #urbanfarm #urbanfarming #gardenplan #gardenplanning #grow #growfood #gardendebrief #plants
