MORE TIPS: 1. don’t use this method on a precut pattern piece that has to be gathered to fit a specific measurement or other pattern piece. you cannot adjust later because these stitches lock in your gathers! It’s much better for creating topical ruffles and trims, a gathered skirt that you cut to size after, etc! 2. play around with the settings! these attachments usually have a screw that will increase or decrease the depth of the fabric that gets pushed under. you can also experiment with how modifying stitch length will change your results! 3. If you want to use a nylon tulle with your ruffler, you’ll want to pick up some cotton coated polyester thread. it should be labeled as a quilting thread. the reason behind this is very complicated and sciency but it just produces a much nicer result most cases! if you have any questions feel free to comment, i am happy to share any info that i have! 🫶 #vintagesewing #sewinghacks #vintagefashion #antiques #fashiondesign #costumedesign #sewingtutorial #memade

The spookiest Christmas dress there ever was!! - I wanted to make my favorite dress pattern again, so this time I found the CUTEST Ghost Santa and Reindeer fabric from @JOANN Stores and used some vintage VIP Cranston fabric for the shoulder accent. And let me tell you, this is my FAVORITE DRESS!! I have easily worn it 10x since I finished it and the reaction from folks are amazing! It usually starts with “oh Christmas” and then you watch the realization of what the Santa hats are on!
