Nonchalant is one of my favorite words to teach! In this lesson, we explore its meaning and how to use it, while also addressing common mispronunciations. ‘Nonchalant’ means appearing calm, casual, or indifferent—even when you’re actually feeling the opposite. My students are always surprised to realize they already have a sense of the word after we break it down together. By the end of the lesson, they’ll not only pronounce it correctly but use it with confidence! Example: “Despite the chaos around her, she remained nonchalant, sipping her coffee as if nothing was wrong.
