Three survivors. Three voices. Irene, Ruth, and Steven reflect on their painful memories of Auschwitz as we approach the 80th anniversary of its liberation. #IHRD #InternationalHolocaustRemembranceDay #HolocaustRemembranceDay #WeRemember #Auschwitz80
Today, January 27, is International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. I am resharing this video I made from my visit to Auschwitz, and my first trip to Poland, in November. Walking through Auschwitz-Birkenau was a life changing experience. Historians estimate that around 1,1 million people perished in Auschwitz during the less than 5 years of its existence. The majority, around 1 million people, were Jews. The second most numerous group, some 70 thousand, was the Poles, and the third most numerous, about 21 thousand, the Roma and Sinti. #neverforget #auschwitz #holocaustrembrance #holocaust #weremember #jewishtiktok

Holocaust remembrance day, marking the anniversary of the Red Army liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. At a time when antisemitism and extremism are both on the rise, remembering the atrocities of the Holocaust and its victims—the genocide of 6 million Jews (1 million of whom died in Auschwitz alone) and 5 million members of other marginalized groups, including disabled persons, homosexuals, Romani people and more. The mass murder of 11 million human beings—people with families, with dreams, with full lives that were cut brutally short—must not be forgotten. #holocaustrembrance #weremember
