We’re continuing our German Riesling series with a winemaker who was once considered an outcast in the region. Hans-Joseph Becker, know as HaJo by many, runs his family estate JB Becker in the Rheingau region of Germany. He is a 3rd generation winemaker who took over in 1971 When HaJo took over, he decided to start making Trocken (Dry) Rieslings, against the grain of the traditional Kabinett (Sweet) Rieslings the region was known for. While at the time it was seen as controversial, his foresight paid off because now he’s seen as a trailblazer in the region.
