There’s snow much fun to be had in Michigan in January! Here are my top 3 picks for activities to prioritize this month: 1️⃣🌍☃️On Friday, January 10, the World of Winter kicks off again in @Experience Grand Rapids to brighten up your winter. And brighten it up, it shall! This year, the US’s largest winter festival is focusing on light-based installations making for a fun evening adventure! 💰Cost? Installations & many events are totally free! 🅿️Parking: There’s several street parking options, plus many city lots - we always prefer the Louis Campau ramp which has skybridge access running from the Van Andel Arena to DeVos Place. 🛏️Where to Stay? The @JW Marriott is our personal favorite! 2️⃣🚘🥌January is a beautiful, quiet month to go on a drive along M-22 throughout the Leelanau Peninsula. There are several gorgeous trails to explore thanks to the Leelanau Conservancy, cute small towns to scope out, and trying out curling in the winter is just the best time to do it! 🛏️Where to Stay? @Anchor Inn is a fantastic budget friendly option & fantastic in winter with a free sauna for guests & ice skating rink opening up shortly! 📍Top Activities & Places to Explore? Sutton’s Bay is pretty lively year round with shops & restaurants remaining open (Gilchrist Farm Winery & Hop Lot are must visits!), wineries & cideries remain open, and trails like Pyramid Point, Whaleback, & Clay Cliffs all provide quite stunning views of Lake Michigan. 3️⃣🛶🌨️3. You have to go on a winter rafting experience with Jordan Valley Outfitters! This has been on my bucket list for years until last winter when we finally experienced it! Well worth the wait - especially when it’s super snowy! 💰Cost? $47.50 adults, $20.50 for youth under 13, $17.50 for 4 and under 👶Kid Friendly? Definitely- my son was 4 when we went! 📲How to book? Go online to jvoutfitters.com ⏰How long does it take? 1.5 to 2 hours 🛏️Where to stay? We stayed in Charlevoix at Hotel Earl when we did this - very nice historic, recently redone boutique hotel. Boyne Falls isn’t too far either if you plan to stay at Boyne Mountain Resort or Lost Woods Farm. Which of these interest you to most to experience this month?
