Technically yes ... but should you? Most networks are designed using 2 or 3 layers. Each layer serves a specific purpose, with devices designed specifically for that function. Access layer switches support end users and devices, things like: - printers - cameras - end users - IP phones - POE lights - IOT sensors - wireless AP's Connecting AP's to your core can introduce unnecessary traffic, and lead to performance and security issues. TLDR; just because you ✨can✨ do something doesn't mean you should. P.S. have you ever put an AP in the core 🫣🫣🫣 #informationtechnology #workingintech #networkengineer #networking #wireless #learn

Traditional networking is STILL the future of cloud. (yes, you read that right) Most aspiring cloud engineers want to skip networking. So they focus on: - Fancy automation - Complex Kubernetes clusters - Serverless everything But understanding networking IS your competitive edge. Why? Networking underpins all workload communication. If you need to deploy something a certain way, understanding WHY you're doing it gives you an edge. Your next level isn't another cloud certification. It's mastering the fundamentals. P.S. Still think networking isn't important? #informationtechnology #workingintech #networkengineer #cloudconnections #cloud #aws #cloudengineer

DNS is like the Internet's address book - but 99% of people don't know how it works. Every website you visit needs to be translated. Think about it - computers don't speak English. So when you type "instagram, com" - your device doesn't know where to go. It needs to find Instagram's actual IP address first. Here's the process: 1. Your computer checks its memory first 2. Then asks a DNS resolver (like Cloudflare or Google) 3. The resolver navigates the DNS hierarchy 4. Finds the authoritative server 5. Returns the IP address All of this happens in milliseconds. Without DNS, we'd all be typing in actual IP addresses instead of website names. Can you imagine trying to remember all those numbers? P.S. is it always DNS.............? #networkengineer #informationtechnology #workingintech #ccna #ciscocert

I've gotten this question more than a few times, and wanted to take a minute to address it. I'm extremely grateful for the time I spent at Cisco. - It was my intro in IT - It was my first job out of college - It was how I met many friends and mentors Many engineers consider moving to sales "going to the dark side" - but think about it like this. As a sales engineer, you get to take all of your experience and work with multiple customers across a ton of different technologies and environments. For growth, there's opportunities to move into different areas of the business, whether that's sales, product management or even technical marketing. But - it IS a big company. As with any interview - it's a two way street. Remember that you're interviewing them as much as they're interviewing you. If you've ever considered technical sales, I highly recommend applying. #informationtechnology #networkengineer #workingintech #cisco #techsales #salesengineer

I never thought about this until I worked in tech 😳 The internet is actually thousands of smaller networks. And somehow - they all need to connect. When Netflix wants to talk to AT&T... When Google wants to talk to Verizon... They meet at what's called an Internet Exchange. It's an actual, physical location all of these networks can connect together and share data. And it makes everything we do online possible :) P.S. did you know about Internet Exchanges? #networkengineer #informationtechnology #workingintech #internetexchange #internet #technology
