This is everything you need to know about Chichen Itzá from my experience (and yes, I took these photos myself). It’s one of the 7 Wonders of the World, located in the Yucatán region, north of Quintana Roo. If you’re on the Mayan coast, the trip can take 2.5 hours or more. The park is open from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and in winter, it’s one hour behind due to the time change. My recommendation: visit between 12 and 2 PM on cloudy days. The entire site is outdoors and under the sun, so bring water, sunscreen, and light clothing. Be careful when arriving—people will try to direct you to alternative parking or “faster” routes. Don’t fall for it; just keep going until you reach the official entrance. Parking costs 116 pesos, and the entrance fee for foreigners is $648. Inside, you’ll find kiosks selling coconut water and snacks, informative signs about Mayan culture, and plenty of artisan souvenirs. It’s okay to negotiate prices, but always respect the value of handmade work. If you go early or stay late, there’s also a nighttime light show that must be incredible (though I haven’t been yet). You can explore Chichen Itzá in about 2.5 hours, so plan your time wisely. Hope these tips help, and that you enjoy this place as much as I have on my three visits.
