For years, I told myself I didn’t need to write every day to be a great screenwriter. Especially as someone who is neurodivergent, I believed that kind of routine was for other people. “My brain doesn’t work that way,” I’d say. But the truth? I was using that as an excuse to avoid holding myself accountable. Writing is a craft, and like any craft, it takes practice. And the only way to get better is to do it. Every. Single. Day. Even if it’s just a sentence. Even if it’s messy. The act of choosing to think about your story, putting pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard), is what makes you a better writer. I haven’t been great at this in the past—but that changes now. 2025 is my year to write every day, to train, and to push myself as a screenwriter. This is my challenge for 2025. Who’s in?
