Makeup in 960CE China, this time period contains the tail end of the 5 Dynasty 10 Kingdom Period (907-979), as well as the first year of the Song Dynasty (960-1279). Makeup was still pretty similar to the previous Tang Dynasty (618-907): curved brows, heavy blush, all over white base. Although opacity is heavy, we see lighter features being preferred. Brows are much thinner and dainty, blush flares outward from the eye to act as eyeshadow blush and contour, white base is ommitted on the forehead (emerging of 三白妆 "3 Whites Makeup", popular makeup style in song dynasty). Clothing is surprisingly more in line with Tang aesthetics: empire waists (qixiong ruqun 齐胸襦裙）and long coats. We start to see more square cut coats as opposed to rounded Tang Daxiushan 大袖衫, square cute become the basis for typical Beizi 褙子 in later years. notes about my skin type: i have super dry and sensitive skin so for me, there's an emphasis on lightweight, layered products without scents. I also listen to my skin, if for whatever reason it feels overloaded, i'll do a lighter routine: 1. Toner 2. Serum 3. Moisturizer If its extra dry or cold, I'll do the full: 1. Toner 2. Essence 3. Serum 4. Moisturizer 5. Eye cream 6. Night cream I exfoliate chemically twice a week, do a collagen mask twice a week.
