House Obituary #1: Valentine House - 1915-2025 Since the Eaton Fire, I’ve been on pins and needles to see which homes I’d covered over the years made it, it was confirmed to me in an email from Altadena Heritage that this home located at 2800 Holliston didn’t make it 😢 Last spring I made a video on its history when I went for its open house. I fell in love with this story and in honor of its legacy, I am resharing again because even though it is gone - its history shouldn’t be. ❤️‍🩹 Original Caption 👇 If you’ve always wanted to own a historic home in the wilderness with a fun story to tell, this could be the one. Originally built in 1915 by George Webster for Walter Valentine, and then re-designed in 1922 by Henry Greene - it is a stupendously strange layout but my goodness does it have a fun story. There are 4 “Valentine Cottages” that Walter had built and then re-designed in the American Arts & Crafts style by Henry Greene but they are all private homes and rarely go on the market which makes getting to see this such a special treat! ✨Sources - The Los Angeles Times Archives - 1916 Los Angeles Directory - 1920 Los Angeles Census (ancestry.com) - Berkeley Archives . . #lahistorygirl #losangeles #lahistory #altadena #eatonfire #lafires #greeneandgreene #historichome #hometour #altadenaca #altadenahistory #history #artsandcraftshome #craftsmanarchitecture #houseobituary
