This labor & delivery transformed me in ways that no words can describe. They say that unmedicated birth is 90% mental and I couldn’t agree enough. I brought to surface my innermost mental strength and found control in the uncontrollable. With every contraction, I surrendered to the sensation rather than fought it, leaving the experience nearly pain-free. Similar to confronting uncomfortable parts of ourselves rather than running away or distracting ourselves - I leaned in. I leaned in so much that I could feel where in my body Malik was during the last stretch of labor. Being able to catch himself was truly an honor and the best reward I’ve ever gotten! This video captures the flow state required to bring him into the world as peacefully as I wanted. It captures the love and connection that Izzy and I share, and his support for all of my wildest dreams. As vulnerable as it feels to share a video like this on the internet - I think it’s necessary to show that if a girl that had a traumatic hospital birth experience and a low pain tolerance can have a calm birth - you can too! Unmedicated, medicated, home, hospital - all birth is beautiful! To the birth experience that showed me just how capable I can be when I put my mind to something, I love you deeply and you’ll forever be a part of me. videographer: @kennachatterley on IG🤍
