After 168 days in foster care... Nectar finally has a chance at a new home! Her potential new adopter is driving two hours to meet her! Paws crossed...Nectar is so deserving of a chance at a fresh start and a home full of so much love! Nectar was left in an apartment for over a week in February of last year. She ended up at the shelter in the unadoptable area, as she was acting out in fear. We rescued her, and she hid under her blankies for quite some time after her rescue. She got braver and then got adopted in May. She was returned in August as it wasn't the best fit for her. They really tried to break his spirit. He was hit by a car. He's been hit with at least FOUR pellets and BBs (we found two more when we bathed him). But, through it all, this cat has not grown resentful towards humans. It's quite the opposite actually. Mongoose is the sweetest boy. He seeks human attention every chance he gets. Which, honestly, is really surprising based on what he's been through. Mongoose came from a terrible area where people purposely harm cats. Trappers were in the area doing the best they could. But, with hundreds of unfixed cats and kittens in the neighborhood, there wasn't anywhere else for these cats to go. After one of the trappers (Dottie) heard that Mongoose had been hit by a car, she immediately went into the woods and found him. He was taken to the ER and transferred to the county shelter. They had him taken to a local clinic where all of his teeth were removed due to mouth inflammation. He had wounds on his side from the car hitting him. Mongoose is also FIV positive, has stenotic nares (narrow nostril openings), stenotic ear canals (narrow ear canals), paint covering his fur, and cellulitis. Mongoose is continuing to recover with us. Our big hurdle now is the spot of cellulitis on his side. He's overgrooming that area, as well as an area right behind it. We put a cone on him to keep him from getting to it.
