Welcome back to my series of STRESS ☠️  Stress, when not released within a certain amount of time in a healthy way, builds. Like a cup of water that’s overflowing & the faucet doesn’t turn off.  Overtime, this takes the biggest toll on your brain. Stress not only decreases our longevity, it can make you feel alone, isolated & even feelings disappointment.  Stress can make you feel as if no one sees you. They can’t see the burdens you carry, the heavy weight on your shoulders from all of the responsibilities the endless sleepless nights.  Excess stress has forced you to live in survivor mode. Your fight, flight, freeze & fawning responses are in on & it’s like a never ending highway you can get off of.  When the brain is stressed, it causes you to make poor or wrong decisions. Decisions you never would have made if the stress wasn’t there. Welcome back to Episode 3 on STRESS ☠️  According to the American Institute of Stress, 77% of people experience stress that affects their physical health, while the Global Organization for Stress reports that 75% of Americans experienced moderate to high stress levels in the past month. This has to do with the ongoing “fight-flight-freeze” response during stress. This leads to changes in hormones as well as changes in the brain. When stress isn’t released in the body in a healthy way in a certain amount of time, that stress builds & continues to grow until major medical health issues arise, such as heart issues, digestive problems & even seizures.  There is a way to manage stress to where it doesn’t cost a lot of time or money, & that’s with breathwork & somatic exercise. These two modalities activate the parasympathetic nervous system which allows the body to be in its natural state of being, rest & digest state. Is your tight clothing causing you excess stress?  Welcome back to my series of STRESS ☠️  Short answer, YES!  Here’s how 👇 When you wear tight clothing around your abdomen, whether it’s yoga pants, belts, jeans etc, it puts pressure on the diaphragm. Over a short period of time, your diaphragm won’t be able to expand properly decreasing your quality of breath.  Because of this excess pressure on your abdomen, eventually you will start to breathe with your chest because there is less restriction in that area. This chest breathing isn’t natural- you’re breathing backwards.  Here’s the ☠️ part which causes heart ♥️ issues. When your diaphragm isn’t able to move down, your heart can’t beat properly. This causes an array of heart issues & it’s RARELY spoken of nor corrected.  Second ☠️ part is, tight clothing is causing unnecessary anxiety. When a person can’t take a full breath in by expanding the abdomen on the inhale, anxiety arrives. The body goes into fight/flight.  This REALLY makes me wonder why clothing companies promoting the CRAP out of “tummy control” shapeware to give women a temporary instant gratification. Welcome back to Episode 5 of STRESS ☠️ This is one of the fastest methods to release stress in the body. You can do this for 2 minutes a day or multiple times a day to get you back to feeling normal.  The key is, keep you knees in line with your hips, have your feet resting gently on top of one another, have you free hand stable in front of you & just rock back & forth.  Rocking balances the nervous system. If the thoughts in your head wont turn off, you can hum during this time to make the voice in your head, stop. Your foundation- your legs & feet can hold excessive stress When the stress is held on for a long period of time, that turns into pain, stiffness, deep aches or even shooting pains.  This technique that in doing in the video isn’t for the faint of heart. The slightest bit of pressure to release stress in the calves is felt very quickly. It is important to BREATHE LONG SLOW DEEP BREATHS in through the belly & exhale deflating the belly. I prefer the 8 count breath( breathe in for 8, expand the belly like a balloon) exhale for 8, deflate the belly & repeat.  Move the shin you’re using down your resting leg & repeat the breathing process. You will feel the calves release the tension. Really take your time here. You may be able to sit back & put more pressure on certain areas. This is important to listen to your body.  After you have done each leg, sit on the floor & flex your feet & then relax, repeating the breathing technique I wrote above. Then roll your ankles slowly for 30 seconds.
