🦋 Binder rash? Here’s what you NEED to know! 👇 Also, please follow me on IG in case of ban. Thank you! @DrTonyMangubat 🔥 If you’re wearing a chest binder, you’ve likely experienced a rash. What causes it? Trapped moisture + friction = the perfect storm for irritation and bacteria. 😖 Here’s how to treat and prevent it: 1️⃣ Keep the area dry: Pat under your chest completely dry after showering. You can also use a hairdryer on low to ensure the area is fully dry—moisture is the enemy here! 2️⃣ Protect your skin: Use Desitin (yes, the diaper rash cream!) to calm irritation and create a barrier. 3️⃣ Clean the area with care: Wash your chest area with Head & Shoulders shampoo twice to reduce fungal growth. Then, make sure to dry thoroughly afterward—this step is crucial! 4️⃣ Layer smart: Tuck a cotton tank top under your binder to absorb sweat and reduce friction. 5️⃣ Treat fungal rashes: If the rash worsens, apply Monistat cream or Miconazole (used for yeast infections) to kill yeast. ⏳ If it doesn’t improve in 7 days, see your doctor! They can prescribe Diflucan, a one-dose treatment for fungal infections. ⚠️ Why this matters: Not only is binder rash painful, but untreated it can lead to scarring. If you’re preparing for top surgery, surgeons can’t operate on infected skin. Taking care of this now means staying on track for surgery later! Take care of your skin, and let’s keep it healthy and happy under your binder! 💙
