Screen time isn’t the enemy—unless you’re ignoring the 3 Cs Content, Context, and Caregiver Interaction Not all screen time is equal. Use the 3 Cs framework to make intentional decisions: Content: Pick quality over quantity! Choose age-appropriate, educational content from trusted sources like Sesame Street or PBS Kids. Thoughtfully selected programs can support learning—especially when used in moderation. Context: Screens aren’t a substitute for real-world engagement. Watch alongside your child, ask questions, and connect what they see to everyday life. If a show features animals, mimic their sounds or find them in a book together! Caregiver Interaction: Watching together makes all the difference. Co-viewing turns passive screen time into an interactive learning moment, strengthening both their brain and your bond. And of course - no screen time for kids under 18 months old and a max of 1 hour for kids between 2-5 years old. Increased near work (like screen time on iPads, tablets and phones) has been linked to nearsightedness in kids.
