Replying to @sumu555 Why iced drinks are bad for your health, according to Chinese medicine šŸ§Š Ice is a ubiquitous part of the modern Western lifestyle, and cold food and drink are extremely popular. For example, someone in the US might think a salad and a cold smoothie is a healthy meal. / Traditional Chinese Medicine, however, believes ice is immensely harmful to our health, and that the intake of cold food or drink can decrease circulation, hinder nutrient absorption, prevent adequate hydration, and potentially lead to reduced immunity and even female reproductive system disorders. This is why youā€™ll find the Chinese drinking hot drinks such as tea year-roundā€”and why we often ask for water at room temperature! / Chinese wisdom suggests that all food and drink be consumed around 100 degrees F, at body temperature or greater. Your stomach, like your other organs, is optimized at 98.6 degrees. After the intake of cold drink or food, the stomach will attempt to draw heat from the lower body in an effort to return to its optimal temperature, decreasing circulation to these areas. / In Western terms, the intake of cold food and drink causes blood vessel constriction, which prevent our bodies from fully absorbing nutrients and also hinders hydration. / In TCM terms, ingesting cold food and drinks weaken the Stomach and the Spleen organ systems and promotes dampness in the body, which is linked to immunity and results in phlegm production. Ultimately, excess internal phlegm creates lethargy and excess weight, and can also be linked to qi stagnation, resulting in irritability and low motivation. / Thus, one of the easiest and most beneficial TCM health tips to drink more warm beverages! / šŸ“ø In the video: our Pipa semi-automatic tea kettle and raw Puā€™er dragon pearl tea from Yiwu village šŸµšŸ«– Available on our site / #chinesemedicine #china #wellness #herbalmedicine #chinesecooking #rednote #redbook

Our traditional ginger tea paste is our oldest and best known product, and we just made a new batch! Made in small-batches over 72-hours, it uses fresh ginger, jujube, goji berry, and black sugar. / This is an immunity boosting, inflammation reducing, digestion boosting, and anti-aging tonic beloved in Chinese medicine. It is a nourishing drink for everyday consumption, with fat burning, pain reducing, and anti-nausea benefits. / Why does Chinese medicine rarely recommend consuming ginger by itself, and so often pairs ginger specifically with jujube? / Ginger Tea with Jujube traces its roots to Guizhi Tang, the ā€œfirst formula under heavenā€ and a creation of Yi Yin, a Shang Dynasty (1600-1000 BC) Prime Minister and culinary master who thought deeply about the need to balance herbs. / Ginger and jujube are two herbs often paired together because of their ability to create a perfect balance. Ginger strengthens circulation and is warming (a 2017 study by Yang, et al showed consuming ginger created a slight rise in temperature of 2.4 degrees F at the Zhiyang acupoint). However, a rise in body temperature can affect electrolyte imbalances, so jujube, a superfood fruit rich in electrolytes, is added to balance the effects of ginger. / Jujube is an antioxidant rich superfood with anti-aging and anti-anxiety effects. However, too much jujube can cause some stomach discomfort, but by adding ginger, these side-effects are completely mitigated. Ginger and jujube are both mutually enhancing and mutually balancing, resulting in a holistically balanced formula which is much greater than the sum of its parts. / We also use medicinal black sugar in our recipe. Unlike white or brown sugar, black sugar is unrefined: it is sugar made by slow-cooking sugarcane juice. It also has a powdery texture, with a deep, complex flavor. Black sugar retains trace minerals including potassium, iron, and calcium, and studies show black sugar has a strong antioxidant profile and an inhibitory effect on blood glucose levels. Black sugar is grouped as a ā€œwarmingā€ food in Chinese medicine and is widely used therapeutically. . . #chinesemedicine #ginger #holistichealth #chinesedrink #rednote #xiaohongshu #gingertea #chineserecipes

šŸ”„ Heat is the ultimate cold-buster! In the clinic, I often use an amazing Chinese medicine technique called moxibustion. Think of it as ancient infrared therapyā€”it uses herbal heat to deeply penetrate and warm your body. My late teacher, Dr. Wang Ju-Yi, showed me the magic of using moxa on Du14 to tackle ā€œcold invasionā€ issues. It was a lifesaver during Beijing's freezing winters almost 20 years ago, and I still swear by it today! Moxa is a game-changer for colds, flus, sinus congestion, and even boosting a weak immune system. But you can apply these heat principles at home, too. Feeling a cold coming on? Try warming the back of your neckā€”itā€™s so effective for stubborn sinus issues. My go-to tools include the Lanshin Hot Massager by Acera (link in bio!) or heat pads. Here, Iā€™m using K.S. Choi Corp Moxa Heat Packs, which lasts 15ā€“24 hours. Just be carefulā€”it gets really hot, so donā€™t fall asleep with it directly on your skin. For lighter options, keep your neck warm with a cozy scarf, wear your hair down at night, or simply protect your neck when youā€™re out in the cold. Have questions? Drop them in the commentsā€”Iā€™d love to help! šŸ’¬ #lanshin #tcm #chinesemedicine #colds #flu #sick #holistichealth

The secret is ā€¦ Apple Onion Essence! This home remedy from Asia, particularly popular in China, Taiwan, and Korea, is known for its effectiveness for all ages, but especially loved for helping young children. Health Benefits: ā€¢	Onion: Known for its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, onions help clear congestion and fight infections. ā€¢	Apple: Soothes the throat, helps relieve coughing, and provides antioxidants to strengthen the immune system. ā€¢	This remedy is perfect for relieving respiratory issues, improving circulation, and naturally easing coughs. Waterless Double Steaming is a technique rooted in traditional Chinese medicine. By not adding any water, it allows the natural juices from the ingredients to extract fully, creating a potent essence. Apple Onion Essence Ingredients: ā€¢	1 apple ā€¢	1 onion Steps: 1.	Cut the apple and onion into chunks. 2.	Place a large heatproof shallow bowl into the steamer. Put a smaller bowl in the center of the large bowl, facing down. 3.	Layer the apple and onion around the small bowl. Donā€™t worry about perfect placementā€”just layer it evenly. 4.	Cover and simmer over medium heat for about 30 minutes. The steam will release the juices from the apple and onion, which will naturally collect in the small bowl as an essence. 5.	Let it cool down until itā€™s easy to handle by hand. Remove the onion and apple. Take out the bowl and collect the concentrated, healing liquid. Drink it warm straight or dilute with water. This simple, effective remedy is all-natural and perfect for the whole family!
