When you’re struggling with fight-or-flight symptoms, leaving the house can feel impossible. I remember saying no a lot. Your home and your family become your safe space, and stepping out into the unknown—especially around people who might not understand symptoms brought on by panic attacks and anxiousness—can feel overwhelming and even embarrassing. On this account, I give you all the tools for your toolbox to help you get to the other side. We can never get rid of stress but if we can learn all the ways to maneuver through it, we can keep our nervous system and a healthy . Today I want to share with you the secret around cold exposure and how it has an incredible way of calming the body by activating your parasympathetic nervous system—the part that tells you, ‘It’s safe to relax.’ Here are a few ways to use cold no matter where you are to help: 1️⃣ Try a face plunge: Dip your face into a bowl of ice water for 10-15 seconds. (You can do this at home) 2️⃣ Run cold water from the faucet and splash it on your face or wet a cloth to place on your neck. (You can do this at a restaurant or friends house) 3️⃣ Grab some ice and hold it against the back of your neck or wrists for instant relief. (You can ask for this on an airplane) But what if you’re out and about and don’t have access to ice or cold water? 👉 Simply step outside into the cold weather. Let the crisp air touch your skin, take a few deep breaths, and let your body start to calm down. 1.	Inhale for 4 counts. 2.	Hold your breath for 4 counts. 3.	Exhale slowly for 6 counts. 4.	Repeat 5 times. Cold air + intentional breathing = a calmer, safer you. ❄️✨ Follow @overcomingfightorflight and save this for the next time you feel anxious or overwhelmed! I’ve been polar plunging for 5 years now. Why? Why endure something painful? Because the after feeling is immaculate. #1. I find it so much easier to choose the harder but better choices. I eat healthier, I choose to go on that walk rather than sit on my phone, etc. #2. I feel more present, not controlled by my emotions. Being present is directly linked to happiness and I feel that deeply. #3. Helps increase brown fat which boosts your metabolism. #4. My brain feels much clearer the rest of the day. #5. Reminds me I’m strong, powerful, and able to handle tough situations and CHOOSE into them. Even run straight in to them. Also peep my little neice who decided to join me. So fun! Teach em while they’re young, it’s easier to install healthy habits from a young age rather than trying to learn and install them when you’re older! #glp1 #coldexposure

Cold plunge day 39. 3 minutes, 30 degrees! #coldplunge #coldexposure #dailyplunge
The biggest reason why I recommend ice baths/cold showers as a habit to develop as a player is because IT SUCKS. No one in their right mind wants to wake up and do that. But it is a great first step in taking back control of your mind. Zero compromise, zero hesitation. If you can force yourself to get out of your warm bed and hop in freezing cold water… You sure as hell can go out there and play the game with certainty. ** DO NOT TAKE ICE BATHS ALONE. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SOMEBODY WITH YOU. AND I AM NOT RECOMMENDING THIS FOR YOUNG KIDS ** Full video on YouTube, click the link in my bio #baseball #mindset #coldexposure #habits #collegebaseball

YEAR 3, DAY 3 of cold plunging every day of January in this river. I have two meaningful goals for 2025, but the way I approach them will be different than in the past. Finding balance and time for rest is more important than ever to me - and that’s truly going to be the only way I accomplish what I’m setting out to do. The first main goal this year is to finish my SSRI taper from 9mg of Lexapro down to zero. I’ve worked so hard to get here (tapering 20mg to 9mg in 2023, then completely tapering off Klonopin in 2024), so I’m going to get approaching these things with balance, patience, and staying connected with my body. It’s been 25 years on these meds…it’s time to come off. . . . . . #stayandwander #discoverearth #roamtheplanet #beautifulplaces #motivation #coldexposure #motivational #gymmotivation #coldplunge #MentalHealth #fyp #fypシ #explorepage #trendingreels #goals #wimhof #icebath #mentalhealthmatters #anxietyrelief #reels
Kicking off 2025 with my go-to morning ritual for energy, focus, and health! ☀️❄️💪 This stack of habits has completely transformed my energy, focus, and overall health over the past few years: 1️⃣ Morning sun exposure: Even in Boston’s chilly winter, I make it a point to get outside early. This boosts my circadian rhythm, energizes me, and supports mitochondrial health. Even just 5-10 minutes makes a world of difference. 2️⃣ Cold immersion: Yep, it’s below freezing 🥶, but the benefits are worth it. Cold exposure enhances circulation, reduces inflammation, and leaves me feeling sharp and alive. It also helps you manage stress better…and it’s amazing for circulation and metabolism. 3️⃣ Mindful movement: Gentle movements like squats, shoulder rolls, and ankle circles help wake up my body, improve mobility, and set a positive tone for the day. Great way to get the blood flowing and connect with my body 🧘‍♂️ These three habits stack beautifully—they’re simple but incredibly powerful when done consistently. It’s all about starting the day with intention and building energy from the ground up. Here’s to making 2025 your healthiest, happiest year yet! If you’re curious about any of these, drop a comment—I love chatting about this stuff! Best wishes this year! Let’s crush 2025! 🔥 #MorningRoutine #ColdExposure #Sunlight #MindfulMovement #HealthyHabits #2025Goals #WellnessJourney #Transformational #HappyNewYear

Cold plunge day 40! 3 min, 35 degrees outside #coldplunge #coldexposure
My entire life, I was taught about physical health—exercise, eating right, and staying active. Those who knew me well in high school knew sports was my life. But not one person ever told me about the importance of taking care of my mental wellness or supporting my nervous system. In my early 40s, I found myself stuck in fight-or-flight. I was dealing with anxiousness, panic attacks, weight gain in my midsection, waking up at 3 AM staring at the ceiling, mood swings, feeling overstimulated, and constant lightheadedness like I might pass out. When I hit my max and couldn’t take it anymore, I decided to go on a journey to support my nervous system naturally and eliminate my symptoms. Now, I’m on the other side—and I’ve created this account to help YOU do the same. If you’re feeling the weight of stress and overwhelm, know that healing starts with calming the nervous system. Today, I want to share one helpful strategy: cold exposure. Cold exposure stimulates the vagus nerve, which plays a key role in calming the body down when you’re feeling anxious. Here’s how: 🔹 It helps regulate your heart rate and breathing. 🔹 It shifts your body out of fight-or-flight into rest-and-digest mode. 🔹 It promotes a sense of calm and clarity. Even simple steps like splashing cold water on your face, taking a cold shower, or using ice packs on the back of your neck can signal your body to relax. The more tools you can use to keep your nervous system calm, the closer you’ll be to feeling like yourself again. #StressReliefTips #VagusNerve #NervousSystemSupport #iceonneck #ColdExposure #FightOrFlight #CalmYourBody #NaturalStressRelief #coldcalmsthebody
