Why is My Breastmilk Brown?! 😱🍼🤎 If you’ve noticed your breastmilk looking rusty brown/ red or even orange, don’t panic—you might be dealing with something called “Rusty Pipe Syndrome” 🧡🍼 👶 What is it? It’s a harmless condition that happens when small amounts of blood mix with your colostrum or milk. This is super common in the early weeks of breastfeeding as your milk ducts open up and adjust to the new flow 🚰 😱 Is it safe? YES! It might look alarming, but it’s safe for your baby to drink. Most babies aren’t bothered by it, but if yours seems fussy, you can offer pumped milk once the color clears up … ask your doctor if you are having any pain while pumping or for personal advice 🩺 💡 How to get rid of it? The good news? It usually clears up on its own within a few days! Keep nursing or pumping regularly, and stay hydrated 💧 If it doesn’t improve after a week, or if you see large clots, feel pain, or notice other unusual symptoms, check in with your healthcare provider to rule out anything serious. 👩🍼 Remember: Your breastfeeding journey might come with surprises, but you’re doing amazing. Don’t let a little “rust” throw you off! 💪✨ Have you experienced this before? Share below to help other mamas feel less alone! ⬇️💕
