Drunk driver blew a red light, and wound up underneath a semi truck. This happened Thursday night outside of Joliet, IL and has ended up in numerous charges for the driver of that car. The motorist who is seriously injured is 45 year old Tara Martinez. Martinez is currently at Loyola University Hospital for treatment of her injuries. She has however been arrested on charges of aggravated DUI, BAC over .08% and violation of pretrial release. Now according to Police they say that Martinez was driving a Hyundai Sonata NB on Houboult Rd. Approaching McDonough St. Police believe she saw the red light and just disregarded it, entered the intersection hitting the trailer of a Freightliner Semi truck. The semi truck was driven by 58 year old truck driver from Bolingbrook, IL. The Sonata came to rest under the trailer. Martinez had to be extricated from her car from the fire department. Police determined her BAC was three times the legal limit, she was placed into custody and then later transferred to Loyola Hospital for treatment. At the time of the accident on Thursday night their were three other people inside of her car. Luckily none of the passengers nor the truck driver of the semi truck were injured in this accident. Now this is not Martinez first run in with the Police. When police did arrest her they found her license was suspended due to a DUI. Just back in November she was arrested again for crashing into a light pole while intoxicated. Police also learned at the time of this accident that she had just been released under conditions of pretrial release from a Previous charge of aggravated battery to a peace officer.
