IS SOUTH AFRICA SAFE? 🇿🇦⬇️ Yes and no. YES - as a solo woman traveling to Cape Town and Kruger in South Africa, I can say (from at least my personal experience) that there were NO times at all I felt unsafe. BUT I also followed local safety advice and avoided certain areas. No - because EVERYWHERE you travel in the entire world has inherent risks (yes, even the USA and Europe). I'm just tired of people making assumptions about places they've NEVER been to. The media loves to sensationalize bad things about different countries - sometimes they are true and sometimes they are WAY overblown. It's up to YOU to make a choice for yourself, do the research, and ask ACTUAL locals and/or people who have visited the area themselves. All of that being said, I need to acknowledge that at this point I am a HIGHLY experienced solo traveler, so a place I feel safe at might feel unsafe to someone else. And on top of that, I ALWAYS make smart choices everywhere I go, built on my experiences and knowledge - not going anywhere alone at night, having theft-proof bags, checking in with family back home regularly, and other safety tactics. So you might travel to South Africa solo and not feel the same as me. But please give Africa a CHANCE. It is truly SO underrated, and the people there are so welcoming and kind, if you would just see for yourself! Have you ever avoided a place because you heard it was unsafe? . #femalesolotraveler #solotraveler #capetownsouthafrica #visitsouthafrica #travelsouthafrica #travelsolo #girlswhotravel #travelgirls

Your sign to support indigenous and locally-owned businesses while traveling 🛍️ This blue halter top is my favorite souvenirs of all my travels so far. I got it while visiting a Tzutujil Mayan women’s cooperative called Casa del Tejido y Tours in San Juan La Laguna in Lake Atitlán, Guatemala, and I wore it in 5 out of the 7 countries I went to on my 6-week trip around Europe! Not only is it the perfect top for the summer and for going out, every time I wear it I remember the women who made it and make it my goal to support more indigenous and locally-owned businesses during my travels. Hi there! I’m Joelle Thérèse and I’m a Filipino American content creator and romance writer from New York who will travel anywhere for the plot and writes simps, not tragedies I create content and write books starring Filipino American women because I wanna see women like myself be the main characters of their own stories, whether they’re falling in love, going on an adventure somewhere, or both If that sounds like your thing, drop a comment and say hi! 👋🏼🩵 Wanna join my group trip to the Philippines in May 2025 or my QPOC group trip to Bangkok Pride 2025? What I love about Aruba is you can do everything or nothing at all! Here are my recommendations on things to do while visiting the One Happy Island 🦩Feed flamingos on Renaissance Island Visit the iconic flamingos on Renaissance Island! One of Aruba’s few private beaches, you can get here by either being a guest at the Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba Resort, booking a day pass, or booking a spa treatment through Okeanos Spa. 🍽️ Have a chef’s choice dinner at a place like Infini by Urvin Croes Chef’s choice dinners are so popular now and Infini is no different! Chef and owner Urvin Croes uses local ingredients to created curated menus with Caribbean- and Asian-inspired influences for an intimate 18-person dining experience each night. 🚤 Go on a catamaran cruise Can’t visit Aruba without exploring its crystal clear blue waters! Through Pelican Adventures Aruba, you can book a catamaran snorkel cruise with brunch, open bar, and swim spots at the shipwreck Antilla and Malmok Reef up north or you can upgrade to the luxurious Monforte III and cruise around the Spanish Lagoon in the south. 🌅 Watch the sunset on a beach With so many beaches to choose from, it’s hard to pick one! I highly suggest grabbing a beach chair and drink before watching the sun set over the Caribbean. 🏝️ Explore the island on a full-day Jeep tour with @abctoursaruba One of my favorite excursions on the island! This full-day tour comes with lunch, water throughout the tour, and visits to the California Lighthouse, the Chapel Of Alto Vista, the Natural Bridge, the Bushiribana Gold Mill Ruins, Arikok National Park, the Indian Caves, the Natural Pool or “Conchi”, Baby Beach, and San Nicolas! ⛰️ Hike Hooiberg at sunrise I’m not a morning person and I’m not a hiker, but I wanted to go watch the sunrise on the second highest point in Aruba! There are steps up to the top so you don’t have to worry about navigating the terrain and there are a few rest stops to sit down, catch your breath, and enjoy the views. 🌊 Spend a lazy day at the beach Another must-do while in Aruba! Most beaches are free to the public, just bring a chair, some drinks and snacks, and spend all day enjoy the sun and sea (which won’t be an issue since Aruba is below the hurricane belt!) 🍹 Take a mixology class at Taste My Aruba I love cocktails and I love a cooking/drink-making class so when I heard about the mixology masterclass, I was like “I gotta do this!” In the intimate 6-person class, you learn (and drink!) 5 different cocktails while munching on two tapas dishes. Highly recommend booking dinner at Taste My Aruba or someplace nearby afterwards and definitely take a taxi to and from the class! #aruba #aruba🇦🇼 #arubaonehappyisland #arubatiktok #arubatravel #arubavacation #traveltiktok #travel #traveltok #solotravelgirl #travellife #TravelMemories #traveling #travelthrowback #femalesolotravel #femalesolotraveler #femalesolotraveller #femalesolotraveltips #solofemaletravel #solofemaletraveler #solofemaletraveltips #solofemaletraveladvice #girlswhotravel #travelinspiration #travelinspo #wanderingwomen #wanderlust #TikTokPartner #APITikTok #PrideTikTok

This is part 2 - see my bio for part 1! In part 1 of this mini series, I shared the things I DO still struggle with as a solo traveler, so in this part I wanted to share the things I NO longer struggle with - because solo travel is truly such a joy and has opened up an entire world for me. As with any form of travel, solo travel definitely has its pros and cons and for ME, the pros outweigh the cons ANY day. I hope this encourages you to try out solo travel, if you haven't already - try it at least once! I remember at the start how difficult everything was - and now I'm looking back on YEARS of experience. So don't feel bad if you DO still struggle with these things or you are finding solo travel challenging. It's okay! And it DOES get better with practice - like anything else! I encourage you to give it a try, work through your mistakes, learn and do better next time, and love every moment that you get to learn who YOU are and what YOU love. Live in the moment and feel proud that you have tried something not everyone is ready to face! What are your thoughts on solo travel? Struggles? Joys? . #solotraveler #solofemaletravel #solotraveltips #travelsolo #girlstravel #femalesolotraveler #travelgirls
