In this video I show an example of ways foster parents can consider supporting a child who is experiencing a trauma response — during, after, and beyond.  This one is a long one! Thanks for watching it all. At the end I show what things can look like as we work with the youth to overcome and move forward. Sometimes we as foster parents have a chance to do this and sometimes we don’t - it can take months or years or sometimes even a lifetime and often requires professional help. From shrinking to SHOWING UP 🤩 Toxic shame takes shape up in your body as… 👉🏼 shrinking  👉🏼 closing off 👉🏼 making yourself small …essentially - protection through trying to disappear 🫣 This response reinforces the message: “I can’t” or “I’m not.” But HEALTHY PRIDE invites you to open up, expand, and TAKE UP space (IMPORTANT NOTE - not “wait to be given” space) 👌🏼 Try this on - practice shifting from making yourself small in a chair, closing off, covering up, trying to get away…. To lifting your chest, uncrossing your legs, leaning forward and letting yourself fully arrive.  In essence, allowing your body to say: “I’m here.” 👑 These seemingly small shifts create a BIG impact on how you feel inside (remember - story follows state) 🙌🏼 Healthy pride isn’t just a mindset—it’s a full-body experience 🔥 What’s one thing you’re proud of yourself for this week?
