Allergy treatment bringing us a huge helping of food freedom this year is the best Christmas present I could’ve asked for. Our journey isn’t over (still working through peanuts) but the wound has mostly scarred over. If you don’t have a child with allergies — you may think that’s all a bit dramatic. But I’m telling you… stressing over food— that stuff we all have to eat multiple times a day to survive — for years, will wear on you. Hearing your child vocalize the feeling of being othered for something they can’t control. Watching them have reactions. It’s impossible to describe. I’m so thankful that these wins are healing me. And I hope for him, it’s all a distant memory. #foodallergyawareness #foodallergies #foodallergyfamily #foodallergymom #foodallergytreatment #tiptreatment #tip
Just two more appointments after this one! We will go home and he will eat 18 peanuts 6 days a week for 4 months during his dosing periods in the afternoons. (He will still eat his other maintenance foods in the morning.) The 7th day is an exploration day. He can eat any peanut food or candy he wants! Ummm Reese’s? PB&J? My brain can’t understand it all yet. The next visit in this program is called Tolerance 2. He will challenge peanuts again in a larger amount. Then the next visit 6-8 weeks later will be his graduation! 🥹 The finish line is so close we can taste it! Especially with the dairy freedom we’ve already been enjoying. But most of all, I feel like my baby is safer in this big world. Feel free to comment any questions and I’ll try to answer!! (For those unfamiliar, he’s in the TIP program at @Food Allergy Institute ) #foodallergies #foodallergymom #foodallergyawareness #foodallergylife #tiptreatment #foodallergyinstitute #foodallergyfamily
REAL LIFE. Phew! We did it! I’m tired. Actual footage of the aftermath…and that was after one load of dishes. I’m sending a big virtual high five 🖐️ to all who made Christmas magic AND safe Christmas food. #f#foodallergiesf#foodallergyf#foodallergymomf#foodallergylifef#foodallergyfamilyc#christmasaftermathallergyfriendly
What. A. Year. A few reactions, but far more wins, freedoms and successes! Plenty of illness but mostly healthy. Anxiety and stress, sure — but mostly happy and content. That’s all we can really ask for! I can’t wait to see what 2025 has in store!! #2024recap #lookback #foodallergymom #foodallergyawareness #foodallergyfamily #foodallergies
